Medicare is a nationwide program that applies to elderly 65 and over, as well as those with disabilities. This program allows for those that need health care to receive it, by lessening the financial burden. How is this possible? Medicare is largely funded by those who are employed, through a payroll tax. Through this tax, the people are able to give back to those who need it.
You may be eligible if you are:
- a resident of the United States and are 65 and over, you are eligible for medical assistance.
- under 65 and have been disabled, on disability for two years, then you are also eligible to apply for Medicare.
- battling a sickness, such as kidney or Lou Gehrigs disease
